COVID WELLNESS

These are common precautions I’ve always used for my cleaning protocols, but it may be helpful to know that I take these measures seriously.

Precautions FOR EACH SESSION

  • Masks are welcomed but not required.

  • There is a high powered Hepa Air Purifier in the room.

  • I wash my hands when I arrive, before I start the massage, and again after the massage.

  • I use sanitation wipes on the table, face cradle, and bolster along with any other surfaces that we touch.

  • There is a fabric tent under the face cradle that acts as a breathable barrier. (upon request)

Massage and covid

When we came out of the Great Quarantine of 2020, we were left with many questions. What does life look like while we navigate a viral pandemic? How would we adjust course so that we could resume our lives which were now defined by the new protocols of masks and distance? In a time when we were told to stay distant from each other, I think we realized how important human and social contact really was, but we were still left with the question “What is essential, and what can we and should we forgo?”

Massage had never been more important or valuable in helping us cope through that very strange time. On a fundamental level, massage deregulates the nervous system, which takes us out of the stressed ‘fight or flight’ sympathetic state and puts us back into the ‘rest and digest’ parasympathetic state. This is so important because, when we are in this parasympathetic state, we strengthen our immune system, reduce blood pressure, stimulate digestion, activate metabolism, and help our bodies heal and relax. In normal times, these are great benefits of massage, but even more so in the times coming out of a pandemic.

If you or a loved one you are in contact with is high risk, both of us will wear masks, or massages may have to wait. For the rest of the population, massages can very much be essential!

Thank you for continuing to take care of yourselves, and for trusting me to be the massage therapist you call on for help.
