MEET SARAH

I believe in the authentic healing that happens when we slow down and listen to what our bodies are trying to tell us. I believe in the sense of collective belonging that comes from moments of shared understanding in experiences that cannot be expressed in words, but can only be felt, and in the intuition to guide us towards what lifts our hearts.

PERSONAL:

As a massage therapist since 2006, I have worked with hundreds of clients. Through these experiences, I have learned that massage therapy is much more than just a relaxing experience at a spa. I see soft tissue as a deeply complex, neurologically driven part of who you are, not merely a physical element. With this knowledge, I work with you, rather than on you, to create change that works. This is the basis of my approach.

Throughout my life, I have been active in various physical activities, such as bicycling, snowboarding, boxing, running, hiking, and weightlifting. These experiences, coupled with my pursuit of knowledge about the body, have given me a deep understanding of movement on both physical and mental levels.

I consider myself fortunate to have found a profession that I love, and I look forward to helping others find comfort in their bodies every day!

PROFESSIONAL:

As a massage therapist, I have worked in a variety of settings, including massage clinics, chiropractor offices, day spas, Forbes 5-star hotel spas, and private practice. Each experience has taught me incredible techniques and strategies, and I have never stopped growing in my years as a massage therapist. Currently, I work out of Lateral Fitness, a state-of-the-art boutique gym located in River North, Chicago.

EDUCATIONAL:

I earned my BFA in Graphic Design from UW-Stout in 2001, and my adventure with massage therapy started at the Soma Institute for Clinical Massage Therapy in 2006. Soma is the only school in America that offers a diploma in Clinical Massage Therapy, and I'm proud to have graduated from there.

As a Clinical Massage Therapist, I can create a treatment plan specific to a client's needs by using a variety of techniques and knowledge from my toolbox. This can include relaxation treatment, deep tissue work, hydrotherapy, trigger point work, lymphatic drainage, Ashiatsu barefoot massage, neuro-based therapy and cupping. I've worked in a variety of environments, which has allowed me to apply a clinical approach for effectiveness, but also use finesse and attention to detail acquired from working in high-end service.

In 2009, I graduated as Valedictorian from Soma's Master's Program, which provided me with an excellent education in the industry. Since then, I've continued to learn new modalities and hone my existing skills. My list of topics to learn is always growing, so stay tuned for more!
